Investigation into tree vandalism at Point State Park underway

PITTSBURGH — Someone vandalized trees at Point State Park.

Park rangers say they found three trees covered in spray paint on Tuesday morning.

Officials say removing graffiti on concrete or other materials is not that difficult, but removing graffiti on trees is a longer and more involved process.

“Unfortunately, in this case, graffiti was applied to a tree. It looks like a positive message, but it’s one we prefer not to be on a tree or natural resource when it’s difficult for us to remove,” Point State Park Operations Manager Jake Weiland said.

Officials tell us they started an investigation and whoever is responsible for the vandalism could face charges.
