NEW KENSINGTON, Pa. — Authorities are looking for a man who robbed a Westmoreland County grocery store at gunpoint earlier this week.
According to police, the Golden Dawn Market on Freeport Road in New Kensington was robbed just before 9 p.m. Tuesday.
Investigators said the robber pointed a gun at two employees and fired one shot into the air. No one was injured.
Authorities said the man jumped over the service counter, took an undetermined amount of cash and fled the scene on foot.
“It’s a pretty bold move. It’s a very heavily traveled area, very heavily traveled,” said New Kensington Police Chief Tom Klawinski.
Witnesses described the man as being about 5 feet 8 or 5 feet 9 inches tall with a stocky build. He was wearing a red hooded sweatshirt at the time and had a beige bandana covering most of his face.
Anyone with information on the robbery is asked to contact police.
