Investigators say suspect in Penn State drug ring accepted payments under his own name

Police are sharing new developments in the Penn State cocaine ring bust.

Investigators say one suspect made a big mistake by accepting Venmo payments for drugs under his own name.

Thomas Robinson, who is from the Pittsburgh area, is accused of running the operation out of his frat house.

According to court documents, when police searched his room, they found more than eight grams of cocaine, marijuana, hundreds of pills, and a handgun.

Robinson’s father, Paul Robinson, is a Pittsburgh attorney and among the 14 people charged.

Penn State is one of the biggest universities in the country and this case has garnered national attention.

“I just heard about this this morning, and I am devastated for the family, devastated for the children. I’m sad for them,” neighbor Pam Teal said.

In a statement this week, the university said, “We are horrified by these serious allegations against current and former students.”
