BRIGHTON, Pa. — Police said two women are facing several charges after they stole more than $1,000 from one of the women’s grandmother’s bank account.
According to police, 32-year-old Angie Anzur and 24-year-old Dana Dais stole Anzur’s grandmother’s bank card and took a total of $1,146 during a four-day span in February.
Investigators said JoAnn Altsman called authorities in March to report the thefts. Altsman also said Anzur threatened to blow up her home if she reported the thefts.
Altsman told Channel 11 that she called police in hopes of having Anzur’s baby taken from her. “I’m afraid something’s going to happen to her,” she said of the baby.
Altsman said her granddaughter has drug problems and she fears for the safety of the child.
She told investigators that Anzur and Dais helped her with work in her apartment in February, and she learned a short time later that the money was missing.
Detectives said surveillance video from the Sunoco A-Plus on Merchant Street in Ambridge shows the two women walking toward the store’s ATM at the same time withdrawals were made.
Anzur and Dais told detectives that Altsman gave them the card to withdraw $100 for her. They admitted to taking out more money, but said they told her they would pay her back, according to police.
“We did what she told us and she sat there and told us, ‘Pay me back,’ and next thing I knew, cops were there,” said Dais.
Anzur and Dais are facing charges of theft, receiving stolen property, access device fraud and criminal conspiracy. Anzur is also charged with making terroristic threats. They face a preliminary hearing on May 2.
