WEST MIFFLIN, Pa. — Kennywood is introducing several new features for its upcoming Phantom Fall Fest, including a tasting menu, daytime trick-or-treating and an updated walkthrough haunted attraction.
The festival runs on select days from Sept. 12 through Nov. 1.
The event offers family-friendly activities during the day before transitioning to scare attractions starting at 6 p.m.
Ricky Spicuzza, general manager of Kennywood and Sandcastle, said the festival is designed to accommodate different types of parkgoers.
“Phantom Fall Fest gives our guests the freedom to celebrate Halloween their way,” Spicuzza said. “Families can spend the day enjoying fall flavors, trick-or-treating, and classic rides before the park transforms into Pittsburgh’s premier Halloween destination after dark.”
Among the new additions is the Fall Fest Tasting Experience located around the lagoon. Parkgoers can purchase a Fall Fest Tasting Card to sample menu items, including a potato kielbasa skillet, smoked sausage mac and cheese, maple cinnamon sweet potato fries and seasonal beers.
For daytime visitors, Lord Kenneth Ghostwood’s estate is hosting a new trick-or-treating experience. Children are invited to collect candy, interact with spirits and walk through the attraction.
During nighttime hours, the same building transforms into Ghostwood Estate: Open House. Visitors explore the venue on foot through dark, winding halls without using buggies or ghost blasters. The experience serves as the park’s seventh haunt.
In total, the evening event includes seven haunts and four scare zones. Returning haunted attractions include Detached, mAlice in Wonderland Unleashed, Shady Grove, Dark Shadows and The Puppet Master.
Kennywood will operate more than 30 rides and attractions during the festival, including roller coasters such as the Steel Curtain, Phantom’s Revenge, Jack Rabbit and Kangaroo. On Saturdays and Sundays, family attractions in Kiddieland and Kennywood Junction will be available from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.
The park will open from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Fridays, 12 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturdays and 12 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Sundays.
