PITTSBURGH — Kennywood will open the gates Saturday for its 117th opening day.
Following opening day, Kennywood is open Saturday & Sunday, May 10 and 11 (closed May 4). Daily season begins Thursday, May 15. Gates open at 10:30 AM; rides open progressively each morning beginning at 11:00 AM.
This summer will feature a variety of celebration both in the park and in the community as the park recognizes the 90th Anniversary of the iconic Kennywood Arrow.
What started as a simple directional marker to point people towards Kennywood has grown into so much more. The Kennywood Arrow can still be found all around the area pointing the way for our guests, as well as countless homes and locations all around the world reminding our fans that Kennywood is never too far away.
Work continues on Johnny Rockets, the newest addition for this season and the first full-service restaurant at Kennywood in more than 30 years.
Featuring signature milkshakes, fresh hamburgers and a variety of other delicious options, Johnny Rockets will keep you coming back for more. Johnny Rockets will breathe new life into the historic, century-old Carousel Food Court as it undergoes a complete renovation to blend its own historical integrity with a classic American dining experience. Johnny Rockets is scheduled to open in early June 2014.
Other notable additions for the 2014 season include upgrades to the world-famous Potato Patch! Don't worry… park officials said they will not dare mess with the delicious Patch fries, but are changing the ordering process to make it quicker and easier than ever to enjoy your favorite Kennywood treat.
The classic 1930 Auto Race also completes a full renovation this season. The Auto Race is truly a one-of-a-kind ride and can't be found at any other park in the entire world. That's exactly why park officials dedicated the last several seasons to completely restoring and upgrading the Auto Race to last for generations of Pittsburghers to come.
