ROSTRAVER TOWNSHIP, Pa. — Nightly single-lane restrictions will begin Tuesday on Route 51 in Rostraver Township, Westmoreland County, as road crews begin paving operations.
Pennsylvania Department of Transportation District 12 announced that the restrictions will take effect between McKenery Drive and Porter Drive, running from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. in both directions.
The overnight schedule replaces previous daytime restrictions that were in place from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. Contractor Golden Triangle is conducting the paving work, which remains dependent on weather conditions and operations.
The paving operations are part of the $120.6 million Interstate 70 at Route 51 Interchange Project. The overall project involves reconstructing I-70 at Exit 46 to align with previously reconstructed sections to the east and west.
As part of the project, a Diverging Diamond Interchange will replace the existing cloverleaf interchange at Route 51. PennDOT reminded drivers to exercise caution when traveling through the work zone.
The nightly single-lane restrictions are scheduled to remain in place until mid-September.
