Person flown to hospital after rear-end crash in New Castle

NEW CASTLE, Pa. — One person was flown to a hospital after a rear-end accident in New Castle.

According to our crew on the scene, the accident happened in the 3000 block of New Butler Road (Route 422) in front of Steel City Sports Bar & Grille around 11:30 p.m. Saturday.

Shenango Township police officer Clint Garver said the accident was a rear-end crash.

One car was overturned and its driver was trapped, eventually being extricated by bystanders.

That person was flown to Allegheny General Hospital.

Two people in the other car were evaluated but refused treatment.

Two lanes of the three lane highway remained open during the incident and both cars ended up off the highway.

Shenango Township police are investigating.
