PERRY TOWNSHIP, Pa. — A bridge in Fayette County will close temporarily, according to PennDOT.
The Layton Bridge, which carries Route 4038 (Layton Road) over the Youghiogheny River in Perry Township, will be closed from 6 a.m. Tuesday until 6 p.m. Friday.
Also, the Great Allegheny Passage trail will close daily from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Crews from Joseph B. Fay Co. will set beams on the new Washington Bridge and stabilize the rockface outcrop.
The weather-dependent work is part of the Layton Bridge improvement and Replacement project, which will replace the Layton Bridge and improve Routes 4038 and 51.
With 17 spans, the Layton Bridge connects Perryopolis with the Layton community.
PennDOT says local access to Falbo Road will be maintained on the Perryopolis side of the closure.

- Route 4038 (Layton Road)
Drivers are told to be cautious when in the work zone.
