TURTLE CREEK, Pa. — Several people were hurt Thursday in a crash involving a City of Pittsburgh garbage truck in Turtle Creek.
The crash in the 100 block of Monroeville Avenue was reported to 911 at 12:28 p.m., according to the Allegheny County Police Department.
Four vehicles — three of them occupied — were involved in the crash, police say. Three people were taken to area hospitals, with one being listed in critical condition, and the others stable.
Police say a City of Pittsburgh garbage truck heading east on the Tri-Boro Expressway rear-ended a Mitsubishi Mirage stopped at the red light on Grant Street.
The garbage truck continued through the intersection and hit a Chevrolet Colorado before overturning.
A tire flew off the Colorado and hit an unoccupied Turtle Creek police car.
Detectives are working to determine what caused the crash.
Anyone with information is asked to call the County Police Tip Line 1-833-ALL-TIPS. Callers can be anonymous.
