PITTSBURGH — Multiple people were hurt in a rollover crash in Downtown Pittsburgh overnight.

The incident happened before 4 a.m. Sunday on the MLK Jr. East Busway, near the federal courthouse.

Allegheny County 911 dispatchers tell Channel 11 that at least six people were hurt.

Five of those people were ejected from the vehicle, and one was trapped inside, according to Port Authority police.

A Pittsburgh Public Safety official says two of the people hurt were transported in critical condition.

It appeared an SUV went through a fence, overturned and landed on its roof. There was a lot of debris from the crash scattered in the roadway, including a handgun.

The public safety official says the incident began with a traffic stop in Wilkinsburg and that alcohol is believed to be a factor.

The section of the East Busway was closed for around three hours while first responders were on scene.

A Pittsburgh Regional Transit spokesperson says no PRT employees or vehicles were involved.
