PITTSBURGH — Animal Friends will host a free pet vaccine clinic for veterans and active-duty service members.
The event will be held on Tuesday at Allegheny Commons Park on Cedar Avenue in Pittsburgh from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Organized through the Animal Friends for Veterans program, the event offers cost-free vaccinations for cats and dogs. No appointment is necessary to attend, though attendees must present proof of military or veteran status.
“Through our Animal Friends for Veterans program, we’re proud to give back to the men and women who have served our country,” Stammely-Park said. “For many veterans, their pets are family and a source of comfort and healing. This clinic is one small way we can help ensure those companions stay healthy and cared for,” Melissa Stammely-Park, the community resource advocate for veterans at Animal Friends, said.
Free vaccinations provided at the clinic include rabies, FVRCP for cats, as well as DHPP and leptospirosis for dogs.
Attendees can also receive complimentary pet food and supplies while supplies last.
In addition to free vaccines, several low-cost services will be offered. Microchips will be available for $11, and topical flea and tick treatments will cost $10.
Seresto collars will also be available for purchase at prices ranging between $55 and $65.
All dogs attending the clinic must be kept on a sturdy, non-retractable leash, while cats must be brought in a carrier.
