NORTH PARK, Pa. — A main one-way road through North Park closed Wednesday morning, after a portion of the roadway crumbled down the hillside.

Lake Shore Drive was still being accessed by pedestrians and bikers when Channel 11 checked out the damage, but the road is blocked off to vehicles.

The damage is about a mile and a half away from the start of the roadway. One pedestrian said he first noticed the road buckling earlier this week. Following Tuesday night’s heavy storms, a large chunk gave way.

We’ve reached out to a spokesperson to determine when the road will be repaired and reopened. At last check, crews were still working to evaluate what occurred and determine the best solution.

Crews have the crumbling section cordoned off. Allegheny County crews were on scene assessing the damage Wednesday morning.
