PITTSBURGH — A 19-year-old man is accused of stealing a $20 bill from a woman outside a 7-Eleven on Penn Avenue and punching her in broad daylight.

Police say the woman was holding the money when Giovanni Moore ran up and grabbed it from her hand. When she tried to chase him, investigators say Moore punched her.

Police say Moore then attacked a second woman who was with her, pulling her to the ground and dragging her.

One of the women was able to take a photo of Moore, which officers recognized, according to court documents. Police described him as the “main cause of a series of violent crimes in the downtown area within the last two weeks.”

Channel 11 found at least 10 charges against Moore in court records filed within the last three weeks. The charges include assault, theft and open lewdness.

About an hour after the two women were attacked, police say another man flagged down officers and reported that Moore had punched him.

When officers caught up with Moore, police said he “took an aggressive stance as to try and fight with officers.”

Moore was taken to the Allegheny County Jail, where he remained unable to post bail.
