WASHINGTON, Pa. — Police arrested a man after an assault involving a handgun in the City of Washington overnight.
Officers responded to reports of shots fired in the 300 block of Locust Avenue at approximately 2:43 a.m.
Preliminary investigation showed that Destin Johnson of Birmingham, Ala., assaulted a woman with a handgun and fired a shot into the ground during the incident. The woman sustained injuries, while Johnson left the scene prior to the arrival of officers. Police later located and arrested Johnson in the parking lot of Hollywood Casino at the Meadows in North Strabane Township.
Johnson is facing several charges, including aggravated assault, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, terroristic threats, possessing instruments of crime and persons not to possess firearms.
Bond was denied for Johnson following his arrest. Police indicated that there is no threat to the public.
