MENALLEN TOWNSHIP, Pa. — A man is accused of blowing up part of a Fayette County home Aug. 4.
Court records obtained by Channel 11 show Pennsylvania State Police were sent to the 100 block of Dearth Road in Menallen Township around 10:47 p.m.
Troopers found that an improvised explosive device had blown up at a home, damaging a bedroom, destroying an exterior wall and scattering debris outside.
A woman was inside the house before the explosion, which she said happened between 10:34 p.m. and 10:36 p.m. She told police that she was in a bedroom when she saw a flame through a window and heard something sizzling, records say.
She reportedly jumped from the bedroom to the kitchen before hearing an explosion.
Troopers used surveillance video to identify a suspect.
Police allege that Christopher Greer, 41, of Uniontown, can be seen driving a truck that was later spotted near the home minutes before the explosion supposedly occurred.
Investigators traced Greer’s cellphone activity, which placed his device near the home around the time of the explosion.
Interviews detailed in court records suggest Greer and his associates may have been feuding with the people who lived at the Dearth Road home.
Greer was arraigned Wednesday and is being held in the Fayette County Prison, online court records show. A judge denied him bail, deeming him a “threat to self/others.”
Greer is charged with attempted homicide, two counts of aggravated assault and several misdemeanors.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Nov. 9.
