A Waynesburg man was arrested after police said he traveled to Fort Mason Village to meet minors, who were actually decoys, for sexual activity.
Brandon Michael Brumley, 33, was taken into custody following a joint investigation by local police and an online advocacy group, 814PredHunters.
Authorities charged Brumley with unlawful contact with a minor, sexual exploitation of children and criminal use of a communication facility.
The Fayette County District Attorney’s Office says the investigation began around Oct. 6, when the group 814PredHunters alerted authorities that Brumley had allegedly contacted two online decoys he believed to be children under age 16 living in Fayette County.
Chief Thomas O’Barto of the Masontown Borough Police Department reviewed chat logs and sexually explicit photographs sent by Brumley. O’Barto later took over the chat directly to communicate with Brumley.
According to police, Brumley arranged to meet the decoy in Fort Mason Village with the intent to engage in sexual activity and drug use.
Officers arrested Brumley when he arrived at the designated location in Fort Mason Village. Authorities seized evidence at the scene, including Brumley’s cellphone, as part of the investigation.
