Man arrested in October shooting that led to death of 17-year-old

Police have made an arrest in the October shooting death that led to the death of a 17-year-old.

According to Pittsburgh Public Safety, Antwuan Berry, 26, was arrested Wednesday in Beechview in the 1700 block of Broadway Ave., the location where Clayton Tierney was found shot in the head on Oct. 26.

Tierney was taken to a hospital and Berry was taken to police headquarters for questioning. Police say he was uncooperative and asked to go to the hospital in order to be with his brother. Tierney later died from his injuries.

Court documents say police found Tierney on the second floor of the house on Broadway Avenue and Berry was with him. Police say Berry and Tierney are brothers. Tierney had been shot in the head.

Berry was allegedly visibly upset and later punched the house multiple times to the point where he had bleeding knuckles.

Authorities say they reviewed surveillance footage of the night of the shooting. They say a single muffled gunshot can be heard coming from the inside of the house on Broadway Avenue, followed by a verbal argument. Police said someone flees the house, followed by an unknown man in a black hoodie with white text on it. The footage shows the man in the black hoodie with white text raising his arm, appearing to fire three gunshots in the direction of the fleeing person. The footage then shows the alleged shooter going back into the house.

Officers said when they arrived on the scene Berry was wearing a black hoodie with white text across the chest. They believe he shot at the unknown person who was fleeing the house before calling to report that had brother had been shot in the head inside the house.

Berry is charged with criminal attempt homicide, aggravated assault, persons not to possess a firearm and firearms not to be carried without a license.

He is in the Allegheny County Jail.
