GREENSBURG, Pa. -- Police said they arrested a man on charges he stalked a Seton Hill College student last week.
Investigators said they found John Bennish inside of the woman's Greensburg apartment.
"He's claiming that he's been in my apartment several times before and that's even scarier because it went unnoticed," said the student who did not want to be identified. "My sense of safety is gone."
The 24-year-old graduate student said she was on spring break last Tuesday when another tenant called police to report the man. Police said Bennish broke in and left some of his personal things in a bedroom closet.
"We found a pair of ladies' underwear folded inside of one of my blankets that didn't belong to me," said the victim.
Police said they have reason to believe that Bennish was following the college student around for the last six months.
"It can happen to anyone, and you should be aware and as safe as possible," the woman said.
Investigators said they executed a search warrant at 59-year-old Bennish's home and found photos of different women in bathing suits. Troopers said Bennish told them that he doesn't know where the photos came from.
Officers said they also found several pairs of women's underwear and women's shorts at Bennish's home.
Police continue to investigate.
