Man claims to have bomb while trying to rob Cranberry Twp. Rite Aid

CRANBERRY, Pa. — Police in Cranberry Township are looking for a man who tried to rob a pharmacy Monday night while claiming he had a bomb.

Authorities said officers were called to the Rite Aid on Route 19 about 9:30 p.m. for the report of an attempted robbery.

Investigators said the man told the pharmacist that he had a bomb in his possession and demanded drugs.

The suspect, described as a white male, thin build, between 5 feet 9 inches and 6 feet tall with brown hair, fled the scene prior to officers arriving.

According to police, several officers, including a canine officer, set up a perimeter in the area, but they weren’t able to locate the man.

Cranberry police Sgt. Chuck Mascellino said the suspect was last seen wearing a sleeveless green shirt, blue jeans, a black bandana covering his face and blue surgical gloves. Mascellino said he also had some type of black covering on his upper right arm.
