Man convicted of girlfriend's 2012 murder in North Versailles parking lot

PITTSBURGH — A western Pennsylvania man has been convicted of first-degree murder in the shooting death of his girlfriend a year and a half ago.

Jurors in Allegheny County deliberated for about eight hours over two days before convicting 21-year-old Dorian Williams on Thursday. He faces a mandatory life term without possibility of parole when he is sentenced in April.

Prosecutors said Williams killed 24-year-old Susan Hammond following an August 2012 argument in the parking lot of the North Versailles (Vehr-SAYLES') Castles apartment complex. Her body was found the following morning.

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette says that as Williams was led away by sheriff's deputies, he said quietly to relatives, "I'll be all right. Love you, too."

Defense attorney Kirsha Weyandt argued that no physical evidence linked her client to the crime.
