HOMEWOOD, Pa. — A man said he made a disturbing discovery Monday morning in a Homewood parking lot.

Channel 11's Brittny McGraw reported that a body of a man was found slumped over in bushes near the intersection of Hamilton Avenue and Sterrett Street.

The coroner identified the man as 32-year-old Maurice Bruce, of Homestead. No other information about how he died was released.

“He had changed a lot of things. He was spending time with his son and daughter. He seemed like he wanted to make an effort to do things the right way,” Bruce said.

Bruce’s uncle, Douglas Robert Bruce, said his nephew had just been released from jail and was turning his life around.

McGraw said there were reports of a shooting in the area several hours before the body was found, however, there was no immediate indication that the two incidents were related.
