Man facing charges after police say he punched, bit 7-year-old

PITTSBURGH — A 31-year-old man was charged by Pittsburgh police after investigators said he punched and bit his girlfriend's 7-year-old.

Investigators said Joseph Horton is facing simple assault and endangering the welfare of a child charges for the incident that happened on Jan. 22.

Officers said they were called to Tioga Street in Pittsburgh after a Faison School social worker reported the incident.

The boy was taken to Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh to be checked out and officials said they discovered what appeared to be a fresh bite mark on the boy's back.

According to the social worker, the boy said he was jumping on a bed when Horton came in and punched him in the back and bit him.

The victim's mother said the bite was from her boyfriend's 10-year-old son, however doctor's said the bite marks were from an adult.

Horton was arrested and charged in the case this week.
