ADAMS TOWNSHIP, Pa. — Adams Township police charged a man who they said showed up outside his ex-girlfriend’s homecoming dance after previously threatening her and her family.
Investigators said Brady Ellis, 20, is the former boyfriend of a Mars Area High School student. He is facing a misdemeanor stalking charge after police said he followed the victim’s location last weekend.
Court documents said Ellis found out where his former girlfriend was taking pictures for homecoming, then showed up at that location, confronted her, and started a disturbance. Police said that alarmed bystanders said they were going to call 911.
Police later found Ellis parked behind Mars Area Middle School, where the homecoming dance was taking place. Court documents said when they asked him what he was doing there, he said he was trying to make contact with his ex-girlfriend to see if they could rekindle their relationship.
Investigators said Ellis has made numerous threatening statements towards the victim and her family in the past, and the victim has made several attempts to cease communications and contact with Ellis.
Ellis faces a misdemeanor stalking charge and was released on a non-monetary bond.
Earlier this week, Channel 11 reported that several Republican state lawmakers announced they’re working on legislation to strengthen the bond process.
Their bill would require a judge to consider a suspect’s prior violent and burglary convictions, other pending charges, and PFAs when making a decision about bail.
Ellis is scheduled to appear back in court next month.
