MORNINGSIDE, Pa. — Police are investigating a fatal shooting near a Morningside baseball field early Sunday morning.
Authorities said a man was found at President Way near Joe Natoli Field with several gunshot wounds just before 1:30 a.m Sunday.
Officials said Shakkeem Harris, 22, was pronounced dead at the scene. Neighbors said they heard gunshots and called 911 immediately, but Harris, who was shot twice in the head and once in the chest, could not be saved.
According to police, there are no suspects and a motive has not been established.
Harris’s girlfriend, Juanieka Farrar, said she’ll always remember Mother’s Day as the day the father of her children died.
“I want him to know I live with him with all my heart,” Farrar said. “I want to carry him with me every day until I’m no longer here.”
Harris had a 1-year-old daughter and 3-year-old son, Farrar said.
Joyce Harris, Shakkeem’s grandmother, said she hopes someone will come forward with information.
“I’m feeling terrible and I’m feeling bad because I don’t think he should have lost his life that way. The way they killed my grandson was horrible,” Harris said. “I don’t know how they can sleep at night knowing what they did because he didn’t deserve it.”
Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call police.
