Two store clerks working at the Marathon gas station at 1100 First Avenue told Channel 11 that a car pulled up to the gas station, a woman fell or was pushed out of the car and a man exited the car. They said the man opened the door to the gas stations’ convenience store, yelled that the woman had overdoes and for someone to call 911. He then went back to the car and drove away.
Police and medics arrived at the scene and transported the woman to a hospital by ambulance. Her current condition was not known.
Conway Police Chief Adam Johnston said the man who drove away might not be subject to any charges, mentioning the good Samaritan law that took effect in December. The law includes a provision that protects people from prosecution if they summon help for an overdose victim.
However, to be protected under the law, certain criteria must be met. Johnston said whether the man in this case meets that criteria is being discussed.
