SOUTH STRABANE TOWNSHIP, Pa. — A man had to be rescued after trying to cross a flooded road Sunday in Washington County.

South Strabane Township police tell us the man tried to cross Valley Road Extension in a kayak, but he was swept downstream and pinned against a tree.
First responders were able to safely pull him out.

Crews also helped two elderly people across the water safely to their car.
The initial rescue happened around 1 p.m., according to the Penn Township Ambulance Association. The company shared photos of its members assisting with the operation.
