MCKEESPORT, Pa. — A man was shot and killed in his home late Monday night in McKeesport.
Investigators said 20-year-old Jabar Ford, of Dravosburg, died when someone knocked on his door and then opened fire when he answered.
Police said the shooting happened at a home on Coursin Street.
"We heard a knock on the door. My brother came out of his room and we were in another room across from his room. He said, 'Somebody's knocking on the door,'" Ford's brother Dawshawn Reid said. "No response. Just a gunshot. But before the gunshot was fired he noticed something. Just the way he was looking through the peephole and that he was backing up."
Ford was taken to an area hospital where he later died.
"We're asking for the public's help. Anybody that saw or heard anything unusual around 11:15 p.m., call the county police homicide unit," said Allegheny County police Lt. Andrew Schurman.
Reid said several people were inside of the home at the time of the shooting, including a pregnant woman.
"Anyone could have answered the door. I could have been the one. We didn't know, we didn't know," Reid said.
So far, no arrests have been made.
