Man shot in McKeesport food mart; No arrests made

McKEESPORT, Pa. -- A man was shot inside of the Bailey Food Mart on Bailey Avenue in McKeesport Wednesday night.

Police said the shooting happened around 9 p.m.

Investigators said an armed man entered the store and pointed the gun at a clerk. Police said the clerk pressed a panic button, which alerts police, when he went to open the cash register.

Officers said the robber then shot the clerk in the shoulder and ran off.

Another clerk was in the store at the time of the shooting. He told Channel 11 News that he overheard the victim ask the gunman, "Are you going to shoot me?"

The witness said he then ran to the front of the store and rendered aid to the hurt clerk. The man said he was nervous about going back to work on Thursday, but police said that they would increase their presence in the area.

Investigators said the male victim was taken to a nearby hospital.  He is expected to OK.

So far, no arrests have been made.
