AVELLA, Pa. — A Washington County man accused in the shotgun slaying of his older brother confessed to the killing when he called 911 operators, according to tapes played in court Wednesday.
Authorities said 47-year-old Richard Bauduin died of a blast to the head at the home of his father, 75-year-old Richard Bauduin Sr., and brother, 46-year-old Robert Bauduin.
The men's father told police he was cooking a meal in the kitchen of his Bethel Ridge Road home about 7 p.m. Saturday when he called 911 because he heard his sons arguing.
“My son, he’s drunk, and he’s trying to bother me and my other son,” Richard Bauduin Sr. said to a 911 operator.
That operator asked, “Is anybody hurt?” Baudin Sr. replied, “Not yet.”
Moments later, the recording heard gunshots.
“My one son shot the other son,” Baudin Sr. said. “He’s dead!”
Channel 11’s Cara Sapida reported that Robert Bauduin confessed to 911 operators that he “screwed up” and shot his brother.
“I killed my brother. We’d been arguing for six hours,” Robert Bauduin said to 911 operators.
At one point the operator says, “You need to talk to me.” Robert Bauduin replied, “I need a cigarette.”
Investigators said Richard Bauduin was visiting from Colliers, W.Va.
“I didn’t want to do this. I’m going to jail for the rest of my life for nothing,” Robert Bauduin told the operator.
Family members said the brothers often argued and that Richard often mediated disputes between his father and the brother accused of shooting him.
