PITTSBURGH — Members of the congregation of Dor Hadash kicked off their annual “Old Folks Bike Ride” on Saturday.
This year’s ride is dedicated to a refugee resettlement program.
The congregation is set to host a second refugee family from the Democratic Republic of Congo.
People involved say this is just the beginning. The group will ride 300 miles into Shenandoah National Park.
“This is a great way for us to spend time together, build community and support an effort we all value. It’s challenging and fun,” says Ed Feinstein, who has participated in the ride every year.
The goal is to raise $12,000 which they believe will assure the ability to provide housing, utilities and basic needs for the first year of resettlement. The group was able to raise that much money in just one month last year.
Anyone who would like to donate to the congregation’s cause can do so, here.
