DUQUESNE, Pa. — A man hit by a train in Duquesne is recovering in the hospital and inspiring his family.
Geoffrey Dodson, 19, was walking along the train tracks Sunday when he was hit by a train and swept underneath.
"All he remembers is being under the train, and then it seemed like forever," said Dodson's mother Heather Grady-Yarborough.
Dodson had to have his legs amputated.
"He lost both lower legs, but he is resilient," Grady-Yarborough said.
She thanks an off-duty firefighter who jogged past Dodson for saving her son's life.
A fund for Dodson has been set up through Citizens Bank.
