SOUTH PARK, Pa. — A volunteer at a nonprofit haunted house in South Park is accused of stealing more than $35,000 that was to be donated to two local charities.
According to police, Daniel Scott Clifford admitted to stealing the money Hundred Acres Manor’s VIP ticket booth over the course of a month.

He allegedly told investigators that he began taking the money after he dropped a $20 bill on the ground during a transaction and put it in his pocket rather than the register. Clifford allegedly said that when no one noticed, he began to do it almost every shift.
For customers, including Chris Katz, who said he visits the haunted house in part to help out local charities, it’s disappointing.
“Unbelievable. What a crappy thing to do,” Katz said. “We have people who work all year long. This is a labor of love.”
Each year, Hundred Acres Manor donates around $200,000 to the Animal Friends and the Homeless Children Fund. Organizers said they hope this last weekend will be a big one, so they can stay on track with their donations.
As for Clifford, he’s facing criminal charges.
He allegedly told officers that he was stashing the stolen money away in a separate bank account until he needed it.
