PITTSBURGH — More than 4,000 people walked in Pittsburgh Saturday to raise awareness for Alzheimer’s disease, which is the sixth-leading cause of death in the country.
The event served as the Alzheimer’s Association’s biggest fundraiser of the year. Channel 11 chief Meteorologist Stephen Cropper served as one of the emcees for the event.

Saturday was an important day, according to the chairman of the Alzheimer’s Walk for Pittsburgh, because the Alzheimer’s Association has already raised $441,000 toward its goal of half a million dollars.
“There is no cure so all we do today is we’re walking for everybody’s memory, and it’s an important day,” said Pete Tsudis.
Similar walks to benefit the Alzheimer’s Association are held in more than 600 other communities across the country annually.
