Thousands without power in Pittsburgh region following severe storms

UPDATE Monday 6:30 a.m.: Duquesne Light is now reporting a little over 2,000 people without power this morning.

Thousands of customers are without power across the Pittsburgh region following severe storms Sunday.

Duquesne Light Co. reports more than 9,614 outages as of 10:25 p.m. Nearly 3,000 of those are in the 15108 zip code.

In a release Sunday night, DLC said more than 29,000 customers were without power at the peak of Sunday’s storms. Power has been restored to about 19,000 of them.

DLC advises people to stay away from downed wires, broken poles and other hazards. You can report them to DLC’s emergency number at 888-393-7000.

Meanwhile, West Penn Power reports more than 12,000 outages. About 4,000 of those are in Washington County, while another 2,000 are in Allegheny County.
