WASHINGTON, Pa. — A Washington County woman is facing felony child endangerment charges after police say she gave her two young children melatonin.

According to police, when officers arrived at Jennifer Reedy’s Extensive Avenue home in Washington on Wednesday to investigate, they were unable to wake up the children.

Responding officers called paramedics, who were eventually able to wake up the boy and girl. Investigators said the 3- and 5-year-old kids were very “sluggish and out of sorts” when they woke up.

“My cousin’ mom was giving them four sleeping pills. They could have been dead, hurt or something could have happened to them,” the cousin said.

Channel 11’s Cara Sapida talked to the children’s’ 18-year-old cousin, who said she went to police to report Reedy’s use of melatonin on her children.

The cousin said she is related to the children’s’ father, and she was visiting when everything happened.

Reedy’s children are now in the care of family members, officials said.
