NORTH BRADDOCK, Pa. — Allegheny County Police are trying to find a person who fired shots into a North Braddock home in the middle of the night. A single mother was inside with her children sleeping when bullets started flying into her home.
“It’s really just terrifying. Even just thinking about it, talking about it my heart is just going,” she said.
A North Braddock mom is counting her blessings that no one was hurt after someone took aim at her house last week.
She said, “My bed was positioned in a way that if they would’ve shot any higher or at a different angle, it could’ve ended up in my bed.”
She moved here about a month ago after fleeing from another state with her children due to domestic violence. That’s why Channel 11 is not sharing her identity.
“Supposed to be our new home, our safe space and now I’m sitting here wondering if I’m going to have to move again,” she explained.
She reported the shooting to Eastern Regional Mon Valley police, where she told officers the gunfire came from a black SUV around 4:30 Thursday morning. She’s new to the area and says she has no idea who could be responsible.
“I really don’t know. I mind my business. I keep to myself, I don’t bother anybody, I’m nice to everybody,” she said.
While she’s grateful no one was hit by the gunfire, bullet holes in her walls are a reminder of the recent violence.
She said, “It’s upsetting. It’s defeating. To constantly have to worry about my kids’ safety and everything and there’s a lot of other kids on this street. What if it was somebody else’s house? What if it was somebody’s kid?”
Allegheny County detectives have taken the lead on the investigation.
