SHALER TOWNSHIP, Pa. — One woman was killed in a three-vehicle crash on the Route 28 off-ramp to Millvale Thursday evening.

The crash occurred around 5:40 p.m. in the southbound lanes.

Investigators told Channel 11 News two women were ejected from one of the vehicles involved. Charlene Washington-Cokely, 52, died. The other woman was taken to Allegheny General Hospital.
The two other drivers, who did not have any passengers, suffered minor injuries.
Traffic on Route 28 south was restricted for nearly five hours officers investigated the crash.
Investigators spent hours gathering evidence at the scene, but there were still many unanswered questions Friday morning.
It appeared to be a head-on crash, but the road is divided by a concrete barrier.
Allegheny County detectives were expected to release additional information Friday afternoon.
