MARSHALL TOWNSHIP, Pa. — A multi-vehicle crash has shut down I-79 northbound in Marshall Township.
PennDOT advises that I-79 northbound is closed at the Warrendale (Exit 75) interchange.
Emergency crews were called to the area at 10:29 a.m., an Allegheny County 911 supervisor says.
According to early reports, state police say, a tanker truck was driving southbound when it clipped a tractor-trailer/box truck that was also driving south.
This caused the tractor-trailer to cross into the northbound lanes, where it crashed into a van head-on, police say.
Three people were taken to the hospital from the scene, including two from the van and another from the truck, police say.
Drivers are urged to consider alternative routes.
