WASHINGTON, Pa. — A 24-inch water main break in Washington County forced utility crews to turn off water service while emergency repairs got underway.
Pennsylvania American Water crews are repairing the broken line between Walnut and Chestnut streets in Washington, which broke around 11:30 p.m. on Monday. The water was shut off around 2:30 a.m. Tuesday, and the company estimates that approximately 96 customers are currently dealing with water outages or very low water pressure.
Although the break happened near Washington and Jefferson College, Pennsylvania American Water confirmed that both college campuses were not affected and retain full water service.
Pennsylvania American Water anticipates completing repairs to the broken main by the afternoon.
