PITTSBURGH — Nearly 50 Pittsburgh Regional Transit bus routes in and around downtown Pittsburgh will be detoured this weekend to accommodate the city’s 107th annual Veterans Day Parade and the EQT Pittsburgh 10 Miler and 10K.
Bus detours for the Veterans Day Parade on Saturday, Nov. 7, will begin around 7 a.m. and continue until approximately 1:30 p.m. On Sunday, Nov. 8, race-related detours for 48 routes will start around 6 a.m., with streets expected to reopen by 1 p.m.
Saturday’s parade marks the city’s 107th annual Veterans Day event. The parade route starts at 11th Street and Liberty Avenue, proceeding down Grant Street and the Boulevard of the Allies. Because buses cannot reach several downtown areas during the event, riders may transfer to light rail cars for free at Station Square, First Avenue and Steel Plaza. Transit officials noted there is currently no rail connection between Steel Plaza and Penn Station due to ongoing maintenance work in the Penn Tunnel.
On Sunday, the EQT Pittsburgh 10 Miler will start at Station Square, while the 10K race begins on the North Shore. The course routes through the West End, North Shore, Strip District and downtown Pittsburgh before streets reopen in the afternoon.
Looking ahead to the Veterans Day holiday on Wednesday, Nov. 11, Pittsburgh Regional Transit buses and rail will operate on a standard weekday schedule. However, the agency’s administrative offices and Downtown Service Center will be closed for the holiday.
Riders with travel questions can reach Pittsburgh Regional Transit customer service by calling 412-442-2000, messaging @PghTransitCare on X or using the live chat feature at www.RidePRT.org.
