NEW CASTLE, Pa. — A New Castle man is facing charges after police said he brought a gun to a softball field in May.
Authorities said police were called to Gaston Park on May 28 for reports of a fight. When officers arrived, they found Matthew Madrid, 24, with a gun.
Investigators said Madrid told police that he feared for his life after a fight at the field, and that’s why he had a gun.
Police said Madrid admitted to drinking earlier in the night.
According to police, Madrid had a permit to carry a concealed weapon, but was charged with public drunkenness and disorderly conduct.
Authorities said Madrid’s gun and license were seized.
No injuries were reported in the incident.
