BELLEVUE, Pa. — Dog owners in Bellevue have a new place they can let their dogs run without a leash.
Bellevue Dog Woods, an off-leash park, opened Saturday in Memorial Park.
The space on Bellevue Road was previously used as a dumping ground for the borough's roads.
Organizers said they noticed a need for the dog park because there wasn't one close to the area.
"And it's so close to their homes that they can be here in a matter of minutes. They can take the dog up here and let him run and play in the pond for half an hour and then take him home. He's tired. He'll sleep the rest of the day," said Connie Rankin, one of the organizers.
People donated materials and more than $20,000 to make the park possible.
