NORTH STRABANE TOWNSHIP, Pa. — The North Strabane Township Police Department is mourning the loss of K-9 officer Drago, who passed away at the end of September.
According to North Strabane Township Public Safety, Drago was an integral part of the department and the community.
Drago was diagnosed with Canine Scott Syndrome in 2018. The disorder impairs the dog’s ability to control bleeding.
On Sept. 30, Drago was taken to the Pittsburgh Veterinary Specialty and Emergency Center in North Hills for an uncontrollable nose bleed, officials said.
He was unable to be stabilized and passed away.
K-9 Handler Sgt. Mancini and his family were by Drago’s side, officials said.
