NWS determines damage in Allegheny, Westmoreland counties overnight was due to straight-line winds

The National Weather Service in Pittsburgh conducted a storm survey in parts of Allegheny and Westmoreland counties on Wednesday.

NWS said the survey will be from near West Mifflin towards North Huntingdon. A Tornado Warning was issued overnight in those areas.

Officials determined that the damage reported was due to straight-line winds estimated at 60-70 mph, not a tornado.
