PITTSBURGH — Police officers were present Wednesday in Pittsburgh's Strip District, a day after a woman was struck by three vehicles and killed.
Officers said they are making sure drivers stop for pedestrians and that pedestrians are using crosswalks.
Judith Kollar, 53, was walking to work when she was hit by three separate vehicles near the intersection of 15th and Smallman streets. Kollar later died at an area hospital.
"It's nice, especially when it's dark out. It's not terribly well-lit at the cross sections. So it would b nice to have a little more lighting there," Cancilla said.
People who walk in the area regularly said speeding cars are always a concern. Matt Cancilla said the police presence makes a different.
Pittsburgh police said they regularly have officers patrol the areas and assist pedestrians crossing the busy Strip District streets.
