ELLWOOD CITY, Pa. — Officials are investigating a late night fire at a vacant two story building in Ellwood City.
According to officials, the fire happened at 10:30 p.m. Saturday night in the 400 block of Hazen Avenue.
Ellwood City Fire Chief Rick Myers said the house had been empty for years and there were no utilities on, leading him to say the blaze was suspicious.
The fire started near the back door inside of the home, officials said.
The state fire marshal was called to the scene and is expected to investigate the blaze.
Multiple departments from Lawrence and Butler counties battled the blaze. Crews were on the scene for around two hours.
The house is probably a complete loss, officials said.
