Ohio woman, 72, charged in deadly wrong-way crash on Mon/Fayette Expressway

FALLOWFIELD TOWNSHIP, Pa. — A woman is facing charges in connection with a deadly wrong-way crash that happened on the Mon/Fayette Expressway in Washington County.

Maciola B. Newman, 72, of Pickerington, Ohio, was charged with homicide by vehicle, involuntary manslaughter and recklessly endangering another person on Tuesday.

Investigators say Newman was behind the wheel of a 2025 Honda Civic that was traveling in the wrong direction near Toll 43 on the Mon/Fayette Expressway in Fallowfield Township, Washington County, on July 14.

She reportedly crashed into a 2012 Subaru Impreza driven by Jacob Matthew Huber, 24, of Ruffs Dale. Huber was pronounced dead at the scene.

Court documents say tire marks on the road indicated Newman crossed the double yellow line, causing the impact.

She and a passenger were extracted from the Honda and flown to hospitals.

Newman is out on a $50,000 bond, court documents show.

She is scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 22.
