1 person taken to hospital, shot in both legs in Pittsburgh’s Brighton Heights neighborhood

PITTSBURGH — A man is in the hospital after he was shot in both legs in Pittsburgh’s Brighton Heights neighborhood.

Pittsburgh police responded to reports of a shooting on the 600 block of Brighton Woods Road at around 7:33 p.m.

Police found a man suffering from gunshot wounds to both of his legs when they arrived and applied tourniquets to both until EMS arrived on the scene.

Police said the victim was taken to the hospital in stable condition.

The shooting happened near a local baseball field. A coach had 25 players on the John Merry Memorial Field at the time of the shooting. He told Channel 11 that his team was preparing for an upcoming tournament and took cover when they heard the shots.

Violent Crime units are investigating.
