PITTSBURGH — Ongoing road construction in Troy Hill is causing significant traffic congestion and travel difficulties for local residents.
Key thoroughfares across the neighborhood have been shut down to accommodate major infrastructure projects.
Crews are working to replace water and sewer infrastructure while also restoring the Lowrie Street Bridge. The work has forced the closure of Lowrie Street, a central artery for the community, as well as Rialto Street, a vital link connecting Troy Hill to Route 28 and the Strip, along with various other roads.
The road closures have restricted traffic flow, leaving limited options for drivers trying to leave the area. Keith Campbell, a resident of Troy Hill, detailed the impact the closures have had on local travel.
“There is really only one way to get out of Troy Hill, and that’s down Troy Hill Road,” Campbell said. “I want to say it took us about 20 minutes to get off Troy Hill, which it would normally take us about two minutes.”
Rialto Street is expected to reopen within one to two months. Completion dates for the remaining construction projects have not yet been determined.
